Country Director (Myanmar)
Starting date of position – September 2026
Together as a team, we at Child’s Dream are here to empower people in the Mekong Sub-Region. We do this by working in partnerships with communities to improve the health and education of their children, youth and young adults for sustainable development.
Our team needs your leadership and management skills for our dynamic team. You will serve as the most senior executive and representative for our work in Myanmar. This position is vital for the strategic implementation of our vision and mission and for the supervision of our collaborative work with our local partners. As a member of our Regional Management Team, you will contribute to the overall management and organisational development of Child’s Dream. The prospects of this position are to grow our work in Myanmar and to expand our network.
Your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Actively contribute to the regional strategy development of Child’s Dream.
- Design and execute a localised country strategy for the Myanmar programme, seeking alignment and approval from the founders.
- Prepare the Annual Tactical Plan and comprehensive country budgets to optimise operational efficiency.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to partnership teams to ensure effective, impactful project implementation in accordance to country strategy.
- Monitor compliance and efficiency across all active programmes and evaluate project proposals, participating as an active member of the Proposal Evaluation Committee and Project Team Meetings.
- Review and approve internal Programme Management Cycle tools, including M&E log frames and project budgets.
- Act as the primary representative of Child’s Dream to all external stakeholders, including NGOs, local authorities, partner organisations, the public, and donors and facilitate donor visits to the operational areas.
- Lead the Myanmar team, and oversee day-to-day performance of the team, upholding professional standards.
- Ensure strict compliance with local legal regulations, internal procurement policies, oversee financial workflows, and monitor and mitigate operational and physical safety risks associated with the Myanmar context for both staff and local partners.
- Part of the Management Team (MT) to provide regional leadership and strategic decision-making in collaboration with the Founders, actively resolving regional management issues to maintain operational excellence.
We are seeking a person who meets the following criteria:
Education and work experience
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Non-Profit Management, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience in the non-profit sector with proven international experience of at least five years in programme and team management in a relevant position.
Hard skills
- High degree of computer literacy, knowledge of result-based management and project cycle management.
Soft skills
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and cross-cultural interpersonal skills; innovative and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead in an intercultural and diverse environment.
Language skills
- Full professional proficiency in English and Burmese is strictly required.
- Knowledge of Thai language is a strong asset.
Other requirements
- Myanmar nationals only. Must be legally residing in or eligible to work from Thailand.
- Demonstrate and uphold all Child’s Dream values, consistently applying the required behaviours in day-to-day work, interactions, and decision-making.
